Installing $PRODUCT$ Version $VERSION$.
-------------------------------------

To install $PRODUCT$ on your system:

     1. Activate "install.bat" in the CD root directory.

     2. After accepting all terms and agreements, choose the method
of operation. (Stand-Alone or Web installation)

          Stand-Alone Installation
          ------------------------
This method installs $PRODUCT$ as a standalone application.

	  B. Enter the path of the directory in which you want to install
$PRODUCT$, or browse your hard disk and select a directory.

If the directory you enter does not exist, it will be created.

A directory named "$PRODUCT$" is created in the install
directory. All of the program's files will be installed there.

          B. Enter the absolute path of your Internet browser. The Internet browser
is used for opening the $PRODUCT$s HTML based help files.

          C. Enter the absolute path of the Java Interpreter. The default path
will appear in the text box. Enter the path of the file (either
Microsoft's Java interpreter - "Wjview.exe" which you have if you
have installed Microsoft's Internet Explorer, or Sun's Java
             interpreter "jrew.exe").

          D. Optionally, create a list of devices (name and IP addresses)
to facilitate device connection when you run $PRODUCT$. You
can also set a default device that will appear as the selected
device each time you run the program.

Note: The device list can be edited though the ConfigMaster menu. The Device list is edited though Options->Configuration->Edit Device List.

	  E. Choose a name for the $PRODUCT$s Desktop shortcut and
for the Start Menu shortcuts folder. If you dont wish to create
these shortcuts, remove the selection from the Create shortcuts
             check box.

          F. Check the summary of the information you provided and click
"Finish". If you have any corrections to make, click "Back" to
get to the appropriate screen and fix the relevant information.

          G. Running $PRODUCT$ -
Use the shortcut icons or the "$PRODUCT$.bat" script file to
activate $PRODUCT$ as a stand-alone application. The script
file is located in the directory:
             "...\<Installation_Directory>\$PRODUCT$\Nms".

          Web Installation
          ----------------
This method installs $PRODUCT$ both as a Web Accessible applet
          and as a Standalone application.

          A. Enter your Web server's wwwroot directory, or browse your hard
disk and select a directory. This directory and all it's sub-
directories are the directories which are configured in the
Web server to be accessible through the net.

          B. In the same screen, enter the path of the directory in which you
want to install $PRODUCT$, or browse your hard disk and select
             a directory.

If the directory you enter does not exist, it will be created.

The default install directory is the wwwroot directory you just
chose . A directory named "$PRODUCT$" is created in the
install directory. All of the program's files will be installed there.

          C. Enter the absolute path of your Internet browser. The Internet browser
is used for opening the $PRODUCT$s HTML based help files.

          D. Enter an alias for the $PRODUCT$'s Web applet directory.
You should provide the $PRODUCT$ directory
             (".../<Installation_Directory >/$PRODUCT$") with this alias
             in your Web server.

The directory this alias points to will be used as the
$PRODUCT$ CGI directory. The CGI directory is a directory
on the Web server that allows the Web server to execute files
             residing in the directory.

          E. Specify a port for Web communication.
If your Web server blocks its ports (for example if it is a
firewall) you should specify a port. Ensure that you enable
communications through the port you specify. If your Web server
doesn't block its ports, it is recommended that you let the system
             choose the port.
If you do specify a port, only one client will be able to connect
             simultaneously.

          F. Enter the absolute path of the Java Interpreter. The default path
will appear in the text box. Enter the path of the file (either
Microsoft's Java interpreter - "Wjview.exe" which you have if you
have installed Microsoft's Internet Explorer, or Sun's Java
             interpreter "jrew.exe").

          H. Choose a name for the $PRODUCT$s Desktop shortcut and
for the Start Menu shortcuts folder. If you dont wish to create
these shortcuts, remove the selection from the Create shortcuts
             check box.

          I. Check the summary of the information you provided and click
"Finish". If you have any corrections to make click "Back" to
get to the appropriate screen and fix the relevant information.

          J. Running $PRODUCT$ -
If $PRODUCT$ is accessed via the Web, it is activated by the
Web server. Using a Web browser you should connect to the file
             "$PRODUCT$.html" in the directory
             "/<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$".

If you want to activate $PRODUCT$ as a standalone application
you should use the shortcut icons or the "$PRODUCT$.bat"
script file. The script file is located in the directory:
             ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/Nms".

Uninstalling $PRODUCT$
-------------------------
   Notes:
   - If you installed $PRODUCT$s HPOV Plug-In, you must have write
permission for the HPOV directory in order to uninstall $PRODUCT$.

   - Uninstall will remove $PRODUCT$ and all of its components,
including the Configuration directory and its content. Be sure to save
     any important files.

   - If you just want to re-install $PRODUCT$, it is recommended to install
the new version on the current one, without uninstalling it. This way
the installation procedure will provide you with the existing program
defaults and with the existing list of devices. Also, all the files saved
under the installation directory, such as configuration files, will remain.

From the Start menu, point to the $COMPANY$ folder (or other folder is you
did not choose the default folder name while installing $PRODUCT$)
   and click Uninstall.
$PRODUCT$ is uninstalled from your computer.

Changing installation defaults after installation
-------------------------------------------------
From the Start menu, point to the $COMPANY$ folder (or other folder is you
did not choose the default folder name while installing $PRODUCT$)
   and click Setup.
Change the provided defaults into new ones.

Running the BER/ASCII converter without running the $PRODUCT$
----------------------------------------------------------------
You can run it using the following batch file:
    .../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/Nms/Configuration/convert.bat

   USAGE: convert.bat <Direction> <Source_file> <Destination_File>
   Direction - 0 = ASCII to BER; 1 = BER to ASCII.

Notes and Cautions
------------------
- Ensure that you configure an alias to the directory
  ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$" on your Web server.

- Ensure that your Web server is configured to allow reading from
  the directory ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$" and all
  of its sub-directories.

- Ensure that your Web server is configured to allow executing from
  the directory ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/".

- Ensure that your Web server is configured to allow writing to
  ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/Nms/Log",
  ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/Nms/Configuration",
  ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/ " and
  ".../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/Nms" (for the file dev_list.nms).

- Allowing the Web server to write on dev_list.nms gives you the possibility
to change the list of devices even when $PRODUCT$ is accessed via the
Web. If you want to prevent distant changing of the device list, you should
configure the system to prevent the Web server writing to this file.

Troubleshooting
---------------
- Very slow directory discovery:
When you press Browse to browse for a directory, the program discovers all
the drives defined on your machine. If you have slow network connections to
any of these drive it might take a few seconds until the browse window will
  appear on screen.

- Poor Web performance with Windows 95:
If you encounter poor Web performance of $PRODUCT$ on Windows 95,
it may be caused by a problem in the Windows 95 Winsock. You can use
Microsoft's patch to rectify the problem. This patch is on your CD
  "Util\Tools\W95ws2setup.exe".
Please read the file "Tools\winsock2License.txt" before using this patch.
You can also download the patch from Microsoft's Web site
  ("http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wuadmintools/s_wunetworkingtools/w95sockets2/?RLD=114/").

- You can't see tables when using a browser:
Because of incompatibility between Microsoft's and Sun's JVMs (Java Virtual
Machines) there might be a problem using one JVM as a client (Sun's Netscape
Browser and Microsoft's Internet Explorer) and the other as a server (Sun's
JreW and Microsoft's Wjview). To avoid any such problems please make sure you
use the same JVM on both sides, i.e., Microsoft's Internet Explorer as client
and Wjview as server, or, Netscape browser as client and Sun's JREw as server.

- Local Intranet Use:
If you are using a Web browser to access a local Intranet Web server running
$PRODUCT$ and there is a Proxy server installed for communication with the
Internet, you need to disable approaches to the Proxy server when you connect
to the Web server running $PRODUCT$. There are few ways to achieve this:

  1. Configure the Proxy server not to pass out the Web server's IP address
(after configuring ,you need to reboot the client before connecting the
     Web server).

  2. Disable your Proxy client ("WSP Client") in the "Control Panel".

  3. Configure your browser to bypass the Proxy server when connecting the Web
     server's IP address.

     A. For Microsoft's Internet Explorer:
Select the menu View -> Internet Options -> Connection.
In the "Proxy server" panel mark the two checkboxes and click
"Advanced.." to open the "Proxy Settings" window. Put the Web server's
IP address in the "Exceptions" panel and click "OK" (and "Apply" in the
        "Internet Options" window).

     B. For Netscape's Communicator:
Select the menu Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Proxies -> View ->
        Exceptions.

- "$PRODUCT$.bat" doesn't activate the $PRODUCT$:
  If activating " $PRODUCT$.bat " doesn't activate $PRODUCT$ and displays
an error regarding an invalid path, you should check whether your command
interpreter is 32-bit (MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt for example).
This error occurs if a 16-bit command interpreter, which doesn't support long
  filenames, activates the batch file.
