

     Welcome to $PRODUCT$ Version $VERSION$. This document contains important
     information on installing and running $COMPANY$'s $PRODUCT$ management
     software.

     
     If the installation program does not activate successfully, refer to
     the "Installing $PRODUCT$ Version $VERSION$." section in this README
     file and carefully check the requirements and procedures.

     The complete user manual of $COMPANY$'s $PRODUCT$ is on your CD root
     directory, carrying the name "$PRODUCT$_Manual.pdf". To open this
     file you must have ADOBE's Acrobat Reader, which you can download from:
     http://www.adobe.com


System Requirements
-------------------
Hardware:
         * Pentium-based machine

         * Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me or Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2)

         * 32Mb RAM (64Mb RAM or more is recommended)

         * 50 Mb hard disk space

         * CD-ROM drive

         * 800X600 (minimum recommended) screen resolution

Software:
         * Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or above
           or
           Netscape Communicator version 4.5 or above.

         * Java Virtual Machine supporting Java version 1.1.7 and above.

           $PRODUCT$ has been verified to run with Microsoft's JVM (Wjview)
           and Sun's JVM (jREw). In case of JRE we recommend not to use version
           1.1.7A because of a known bug.
           If you decide to use Sun's JVM, it is included on the CD-ROM -
           "Util\Tools\jre117Bi-win32.exe".

         
Installing $PRODUCT$ Version $VERSION$.
-------------------------------------

     To install $PRODUCT$ on your system:

     1. Activate "install.bat" in the CD root directory.
	This method installs $PRODUCT$ as a standalone application.

     2. Enter the path of the directory in which you want to install
             $PRODUCT$, or browse your hard disk and select a directory.

             If the directory you enter does not exist, it will be created.

             A directory named "$PRODUCT$" is created in the install
             directory. All of the program's files will be installed there.

          A. Enter the absolute path of your Internet browser. The Internet browser
             is used for opening the $PRODUCT$s HTML based help files.

          B. Enter the absolute path of the Java Interpreter. The default path
             will appear in the text box. Enter the path of the file (either
             Microsoft's Java interpreter - "Wjview.exe" which you have if you
             have installed Microsoft's Internet Explorer, or Sun's Java
             interpreter "jrew.exe").

          C. Optionally, create a list of devices (name and IP addresses)
             to facilitate device connection when you run $PRODUCT$. You
             can also set a default device that will appear as the selected
             device each time you run the program.

	  Note: The device list can be edited though the ConfigMaster menu. The Device list 	is edited though 	  Options->Configuration->Edit Device List.

         
         D. Choose a name for the $PRODUCT$s Desktop shortcut and
             for the Start Menu shortcuts folder. If you dont wish to create
             these shortcuts, remove the selection from the Create shortcuts
             check box.

          E. Check the summary of the information you provided and click
             "Finish". If you have any corrections to make, click "Back" to
             get to the appropriate screen and fix the relevant information.

          F. Running $PRODUCT$ -
             Use the shortcut icons or the "$PRODUCT$.bat" script file to
             activate $PRODUCT$ as a stand-alone application. The script
             file is located in the directory:
             "...\<Installation_Directory>\$PRODUCT$\Nms".


          

Uninstalling $PRODUCT$
-------------------------
   Notes:
   - Uninstall will remove $PRODUCT$ and all of its components,
     including the Configuration directory and its content. Be sure to save
     any important files.

   - If you just want to re-install $PRODUCT$, it is recommended to install
     the new version on the current one, without uninstalling it. This way
     the installation procedure will provide you with the existing program
     defaults and with the existing list of devices. Also, all the files saved
     under the installation directory, such as configuration files, will remain.


   From the Start menu, point to the $COMPANY$ folder (or other folder is you
   did not choose the default folder name while installing $PRODUCT$)
   and click Uninstall.
   $PRODUCT$ is uninstalled from your computer.



Changing installation defaults after installation
-------------------------------------------------
   From the Start menu, point to the $COMPANY$ folder (or other folder is you
   did not choose the default folder name while installing $PRODUCT$)
   and click Setup.
   Change the provided defaults into new ones.


Running the BER/ASCII converter without running the $PRODUCT$
----------------------------------------------------------------
   You can run it using the following batch file:
    .../<Installation_Directory>/$PRODUCT$/Nms/Configuration/convert.bat

   USAGE: convert.bat <Direction> <Source_file> <Destination_File>
   Direction - 0 = ASCII to BER; 1 = BER to ASCII.
